With support from the Embassy’s Public Affairs Section, English Language Fellow (ELF), April Smith, organized on March 7 an American Civilization Fair at Abdou Moumouni University in Niamey.  Students in the American Civilization Course were asked to prepare a project related to the course and present  it to the public and judges.  Judges included Deputy Chief of Mission  Richard Bell and the Head of the English Department at the University. The three best projects were  awarded prizes. The first prize was a lap top, the second was a Kindle, and the third was a French-English dictionary.  The ELF engagement in this fair supports the Public Affairs Section outreach efforts to the university through innovative activities and quality English education. Events like this help promote better understanding between the people of Niger and the people of America.
