On June 21st the English Language Club of Niamey (ELCN) celebrated its 24th anniversary with a cultural evening held at the U.S. Embassy’s American Cultural Center in Niamey. The Chargé d’ Affaires Richard Bell and Public Affairs Officer Marissa Scott attended this special occasion and delivered remarks to more than 100 members and guests.  The Chargé congratulated and thanked the club members for their commitment, and encouraged them to continue on their quest to use English as a tool for not only their personal and professional development, but also for the progress of Niger.  Members of English clubs from various high schools in Niamey showcased their talents as they performed songs, skits, poems, and a fashion show—all in English.  The musical band, Wasa Plus, and singer/songwriter, Al Raddik Soldier, also took part in this celebration and skillfully entertained the audience.  The club, is one of a variety of programs that the American Cultural Center uses to promote the English language in Niger.
