Five Senators Come to Niger

From 3-4 April, U.S. Embassy Niger welcomed a group of bipartisan legislators who serve on the U.S. Senate’s Foreign Relations, Finance and other key strategic committees. Senators Coons, Booker, Bennet, Peters and Flake met with a range of visitors, including President Issoufou, to emphasize the importance of our broad bilateral relationship and to hear directly from the people of Niger.

In coming to Niamey and discussing Mission Niger’s work with environmentalists, policy makers implementing the $437 million Millennium Challenge Compact, and civil society, the senators underscored the importance of our work and commitment to the Nigerien people, particularly in the areas of development, defense and diplomacy.
