Hosted inside the US Embassy in Niamey, The Rosa Parks Library provides welcoming environments where foreign visitors can connect and learn about the United States. U.S. experts, U.S. government officials, and other Americans engage visitors on U.S. policy and society.
In September 2022, U.S. Embassy Niamey’s 60-year-old American Cultural Center transformed into American Corner Niamey (ACN) now managed by a local non-profit organization and backed by the Embassy. Located in downtown Niamey in the Plateau neighborhood, ACN exemplifies the United States Commitment to a core tenet of democracy: the citizen’s right to free access to information. This is a place where Nigeriens, Americans, and other global citizens come together to connect and share ideas. Through a variety of programs, activities, and resources, ACN provides access to the latest in-depth information about the United States, connecting Americans and Nigeriens to learn more about United States policy, society, culture, history, government, and values. ACN hosts the Harriet Tubman library, the Benjamin Franklin Auditorium, and the Embassy-supported American English Language Program, which is a school focused on teaching American English in Niger.
Located inside “la maison de la culture LAYA” the American Corner Agadez aims to improve mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Niger , with a wide range of program English courses, book clubs, activities to promote peaceful civil engagement, and others. Visitors can find answers to questions about U.S. and issues of global concern. The American Corner Agadez introduces the U.S. to residents who have limited exposure to American culture and ideals.
