Guest Speaker Discusses Elections with Youth and Women

International Information Programs Bureau-supported speaker Adrienne Lever visited Niger November 14-22 to conduct workshops on “Grassroots Engagement of Youth” and “Women in the Political Process” in Niamey, Dosso, and Tillabery.

Lever is Director of Partnerships for ChangePolitics, a new elections project of Change.org and served as a regional director for President Obama’s campaign from 2007-2008.   In addition to leading workshops for youth and women activists, Lever delivered a lecture at the University of Niamey on civic engagement before, during, and after elections.  She also had the opportunity to meet with political and civil society leaders to discuss upcoming presidential, parliamentary, and local elections.

Ambassador Reddick hosted a reception in Lever’s honor on November 19, with guests representing political and civil society activists, as well as the press.  Lever ended her trip with an interview on Tambara Television on November 21.
