On February 10, the American Cultural Center hosted the launch of the YALI Outreach Caravan. The 2014 Mandela Washington Fellows and alumni from the earlier version of the YALI program will perform outreach in all eight regions of Niger. Following a month of trips and workshops, the alumni will organize a town hall in Niamey to discuss youth issues and youth engagement with President Issoufou and selected youth leaders from across Niger. This caravan, which is a part of the YALI alumni outreach program in Niger, will allow well-trained alumni to target ambitious leaders and introduce them to resources available in their respective regions to hone their skills and build their leadership capabilities. This caravan will also be an opportunity for the soon-to-be created YALI Association to identify youth and mentors interested in sharing information about community service, leadership, religious tolerance, and opportunities for youth.
