On September 29, 2015, the United States of America and the Republic of Niger signed the Second Amendment to the Letter of Agreement on Law Enforcement, which provides an additional $3 million to support Niger in law enforcement, corrections reforms, and strengthening the Rule of Law.  This agreement supports the Joint Country Action Plan of the Security Governance Initiative and aims to strengthen the institutional foundations and capacity of Niger’s criminal justice system thereby achieving improved public security, more effective counter-terrorism, and closer adherence to human rights norms.
