On August 2, 2023, the Department ordered the departure of non-emergency U.S. government employees and eligible family members from the U.S. Embassy in Niamey. The U.S. Embassy in Niamey suspended routine services and is only able to provide emergency assistance to U.S. citizens in Niger.

The U.S. Embassy is located in Niamey on Rue des Ambassades. The Embassy is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

Services such as passport renewals, notarial services, and Consular Report of Birth Abroad are by appointment only. Please schedule an appointment for any non-emergency services by visiting our online appointment website. Please note that non-emergency services are currently suspended due to staffing shortages.
