Interethnic tensions continue to disrupt peace and security in the Tillaberi region of Niger. To promote intercommunity dialogue and peacebuilding, the USAID Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) supported the Bani Bangou Prefecture to organize a forum that gathered state authorities, traditional leaders, and civil society organizations to address peace and security in their communities. Aimed at tackling insecurity, armed robbery, and ethnic tensions, the forum gathered about 200 participants who created recommendations and developed an action plan for reducing ethnic violence and promoting peace and security.
