In January 2017, U.S. Embassy Niger sought to help give young women a voice by starting the Girl Blogger Program. Since then, 40 bloggers have been assisted in getting their voices heard in the blogosphere.
This project is aligned with many other Embassy activities to help advance women and girls, including a nation-wide teen soccer and leadership program for 300 girls throughout Niger, an American Film Showcase workshop focusing on gender equality and book discussions for local high schoolers. The blogging program continues as 20 more girls will begin the next rotation.
